Thrilling five-set-match at VILSBIBURG: WIESBADEN come out to be the luckier of the two German teams

Vilsbiburg, Germany, January 20, 2016. What a thrilling match it was between the two German teams of Rote Raben VILSBIBURG and VC WIESBADEN in the first leg of the Round of 16 in the 2016 CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup – Women! In the end VC WIESBADEN claimed a 3-2 win (25-23, 19-25, 25-16, 23-25, 16-14) as 759 spectators followed the match at Ballsporthalle in Vilsbiburg.
Nevertheless both coaches – Jonas Kronseder (Rote Raben VILSBIBURG) and Dirk Gross (VC WIESBADEN) – agreed that the final result could have gone the other way around too. The hosts could not capitalise on a 10-6 lead in the tie-break and finally VC WIESBADEN were the ones to celebrate after cashing their third match point for a 16-14 win.
Rote Raben VILSBIBURG’s Roslandy Acosta top scored in the German derby with 23 points, followed by VC WIESBADEN Tanja Grosser with 17.
Next Wednesday both teams will meet for the rematch in Wiesbaden to find out who will make his way on to the quarter-finals.
