History repeats itself with Knack ROESELARE scoring second win over Dukla LIBEREC

Liberec, Czech Republic, January 21, 2016. As they performed at the local ice hockey arena for the last time this season the hosts of Dukla LIBEREC had on Thursday also their last chance to improve their record in Pool E of the 2016 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League – Men. The Czechs played Belgium’s champions Knack ROESELARE and even though they were cheered on by almost 3,000 fans, they ended up losing their last home match in the League Round by 1-3 (20-25, 18-25, 25-23, 19-25).
Knack ROESELARE claimed an early 5-2 lead in the opening set and they were able to hold on to this through to the end of the period. After 28 minutes of play the Belgian national champions claimed the first stanza of the match by 25-20.
The second set brought some more excitement for the local crowd as Dukla LIBEREC were able to keep a slim margin for most of the period. However, after edging ahead at 14-12, the visitors from Belgium imposed their supremacy and finished the set off with ease at 25-18.
Dukla LIBEREC stepped up their efforts in the third set where they played more aggressively and effectively. The score remained tight up to 6-all and after 29 minutes of real battle Dukla and their fans eventually got something to celebrate by cashing this set at 25-23.
The Czechs fought at eye level with their opponent up until halfway through the fourth set but after that Knack ROESELARE showed their experience and class to bring the match to an end at 25-19 to celebrate their second win over Dukla LIBEREC in the pool.
Michal Nekola, coach of Dukla LIBEREC, said: “We have to accept that Knack ROESELARE were better than us in all aspects of the game, and especially in reception as well as when we got to play the deciding points of each set.”
