Baku, Azerbaijan, January 21, 2016. The Yellow Angels of Fenerbahce Grundig ISTANBUL claimed on Thursday their fifth straight win in Pool E of the 2016 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League – Women. They did so by routing hosts Telekom BAKU in three sets (25-18, 25-19, 25-16) to further cement their first place in the pool.
Fenerbahce set the pace right from the start of the match and recorded a terrific 9-1 run in the opening set which set the tone for what was going to follow. The visitors from Turkey held on to their early lead and comfortably finished the opening set at 25-18 even though the young players of Telekom BAKU worked hard in an attempt to close in.
Telekom BAKU stepped up their efforts in the second and third sets but could not pose a real threat to the world-class players on the roster of Fenerbahce, this resulting in 25-19 and 25-16 wins for the Turks.
