Vojvodina set sight on second victory over Slovenia’s multiple champions
2016 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League - Men

Novi Sad, Serbia, January 19, 2016. Serbia’s Vojvodina NS Seme NOVI SAD have set two goals for their participation in the 2016 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League - two wins and third place in Pool F.

The team from Novi Sad claimed their first win in Europe’s elite competition some weeks ago when hosting Slovenia’s ACH Volley LJUBLJANA, and now, in the fifth round, playing against the same opponent, but in Ljubljana, Vojvodina want to do the same.

“We have a tight schedule. We will play three very important matches within six days starting on Thursday in Slovenia, to continue on Sunday in Novi Sad against Crvena Zvezda BEOGRAD and after that on January 26 we will be hosting Poland’s Lotos Trefl GDANSK. However, let’s go step by step and now we only think about the match against ACH Volley. Of course, it will not be easy in Ljubljana, since they are a good team playing with a very specific style, with three setters alternating and frequent changes of rhythm. We are motivated, the most important thing is to play the best we can and try to achieve another victory. In case of a triumph, perhaps we can still qualify to the Challenge Round of the 2016 CEV Volleyball Cup, but it depends on the result of the match against Lotos, as well as on what happens in the other pools,” said head coach Strahinja Kozic.

The Montenegrin opposite of Vojvodina NS Seme Aleksandar Minic expects a difficult match, but also a good performance from his team. “I think that ACH Volley will deliver a much better game at home than they did when playing here. They will be highly motivated to claim their first win in the 2016 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League. If we impose our strong service, play with more courage and self-confidence, I think we can achieve another victory,” Minic said.

“It will be a tough match. However, we have worked hard, improved our form and I think that we can make a good result in Slovenia. It sounds great for Vojvodina to stand a chance of continuing our European journey, but for that we have to go step by step,” concluded team captain Milos Vemic.
