Stiinta BACAU ready for big match with Dinamo KRASNODAR
2016 CEV Volleyball Cup – Women
Bacau, Romania, January 19, 2016. The players of Stiinta BACAU are looking forward to the ‘big match’ coming up on Wednesday in the quarter-finals of the 2016 CEV Volleyball Cup – Women where they will be playing last year’s gold medallists Dinamo KRASNODAR of Russia.
Even though the Russian team is the strong favourite of this clash, the Romanian side still hopes to be able to cause a surprise. “It will be a tough match, against a very good team, but we are very well prepared for it. We will play against very good and extremely experienced players, but I am convinced that we will have a good game,” said Romanian team captain Denisa Rogojinaru.
The experienced coach of the Romanian team, Florin Grapa, is hoping for a victory: “We know the value of our opponents, and I hope we will have a very good game and, why not, maybe we will win. It would be just perfect to start our European campaign in 2016 with a victory against the reigning champions of this competition.”
Since there has been a long break in the Romanian national league which is now due to resume on January 23, Stiinta BACAU prepared the match against Dinamo KRASNODAR with two friendlies against Penicilina IASI and Unic PIATRA NEAMT, claiming both matches by 3-0.
In the previous rounds of the 2016 CEV Volleyball Cup, Stiinta BACAU eliminated Apollon Prestige LIMASSOL of Cyprus and Serbia’s NIS Spartak SUBOTICA, while Dinamo KRASNODAR defeated Belgium’s Hermes OOSTENDE and Hungary’s Linamar BÉKÉSCSABAI RSE.
