Galatasaray determined to edge Volley KÖNIZ in first round of CEV Cup quarterfinals
2016 CEV Volleyball Cup - Women

Istanbul, Turkey, January 18, 2016. As the always charming city of Istanbul is currently under a thick layer of snow, hosts Galatasaray ISTANBUL and Switzerland’s Volley KÖNIZ are waiting for their first clash in the quarterfinals of the 2016 CEV Volleyball Cup – Women coming up on Tuesday, January 19.

Due to the bad weather conditions both in Istanbul and in Zurich, the players and coaching staff of Volley KÖNIZ first had to change their flight and then got delayed at the airport back home. Finally the visiting team arrived to their hotel safely on Monday afternoon. Thus the match became a true adventure for both teams and their respective managements before it even started.

The adventure will continue on Tuesday at Burhan Felek Volleyball Hall, Istanbul with the match set to start at 8pm local time.

“We are focussed on a clear win,” said Nihan Güneyligil, captain and libero of Galatasaray who added: “We have the spectator advantage and I hope this heavy snowfall will not prevent Volleyball fans from coming to the hall. What we long for is to defeat our opponent, which clearly is a young team eager for victories, and we want to go to Switzerland with the right edge before the return game next week.”
