Federico Pereyra believes Noliko MAASEIK can continue their European campaign
2016 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League - Men
Maaseik, Belgium, January 18, 2016. Even with just one victory under the belt, Federico Pereyra is still confident Noliko MAASEIK can continue their adventure in the European Cups this season. Noliko will be playing France’s TOURS VB later this week for the fifth round of action in Pool C of the 2016 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League – Men.
With the arrival of fellow countryman Daniel Castellani as the new head coach, Pereyra’s belief in some spectacular results has increased substantially. The 27-year-old opposite already saw a lot of progress in Maaseik’s league game last Saturday.
“Even if we suffered a very close 3-1 defeat in our away game with the undefeated Belgian league leaders Volley ASSE-LENNIK, we can be happy about the spirit we showed. We showed a lot of fighting spirit and our level was back on the right track,” he said.
Just like setter Juan Ignacio Finoli, the other Argentinean player in Maaseik, Pereyra is delighted with Daniel Castellani as his new head coach.
“I’ve known him for many years. Yet I’ve never practiced or played under his supervision, since he’s been working in Europe for a long time already. But I’m sure he can help us in reaching the level we want to play,” Pereyra said.
“After the first half of the season all of our players analysed their performances. We are all aware we can do better. I’m sure we will turn every game into a big fight. We know TOURS VB is a strong side, with a very good coach too and they are playing close games in the French league every week. Yet, I’m confident. If we can take three points away from France, we still have a last game at home against Italy’s champions TRENTINO Diatec in order to grab a ticket for the next phase in the CEV Volleyball Cup.”
