TRENTINO need two more wins to secure first place in Pool C
2016 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League - Men
Trento, Italy, January 18, 2016. On Tuesday night TRENTINO Diatec will be hosting Greece’s champions PAOK THESSALONIKI in the fifth round of pool action of the 2016 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League – Men.
After losing their last match on December 16 to TOURS VB, TRENTINO Diatec share with France’s multiple champions the same record with three wins after four rounds. Since the number of matches won is the first criterion counting to determine the final standings in the pool, the team guided by Radostin Stoytchev has to win their last two matches in the League Round to secure first place in the group and get a – possibly – more favourable draw for the Playoffs.
TRENTINO have been performing quite strong lately claiming their last game in the national league Tonazzo PADOVA by 3-2 after previously securing their progression to the Final Four of the Italian Cup which will be taking place in early February in Milan. TRENTINO’s head coach will be able to count on the complete roster since no players are struggling with injuries at the moment.
“We really need to win this match after the defeat we suffered in Tours,” said the Bulgarian-born coach of TRENTINO Diatec, Radostin Stoytchev, “but it will not be easy at all, because PAOK THESSALONIKI is a good team, with three strong outside spikers, who put us in some difficult situations two months ago in Greece during the away match. Furthermore, our opponents can play without any pressure, as they have at this point nothing to lose and this approach can be crucial in matches like the one coming up on Tuesday night. We need a victory to cement our first place in the Pool and of course to get the right boost of confidence and believe more in our potential.”
