Antwerp, Belgium, December 15, 2015. On Wednesday night Belgium’s Topvolley Callant ANTWERP will be hosting last year’s silver medallists Benfica LISBOA of Portugal for the second round of the 16th Finals in the 2016 CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup – Men. After losing 1:3 two weeks ago in Portugal’s capital, the Belgians have to claim the re-match by the same score or by 3:0 to go for the eventual golden set.
“It is obvious that we are with our back against the wall,” says Tim Verreth, General Manager of Topvolley Callant ANTWERP. “The Portuguese team proved in their home game that they have a lot of power in service and attack. They play quite spectacular Volleyball. But we had our chances. For instance, we lost the second set after leading 24:20. It is clear that we have to perform at our best to go to that decisive golden set. Hopefully our young squad can pick up the good vibes that will surely come from our enthusiastic crowd. We expect a full house so we hope for another historic European Volleyball night in Antwerp!”
