PIACENZA want to make it three in a row in clash between Bauer sisters
2016 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League - Women
Piacenza, Italy, November 25, 2015. On Thursday night Italy’s Nordmeccanica PIACENZA will be chasing their third straight victory in Pool F of the 2016 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League – Women when they host French rookies Rocheville LE CANNET at Palabanca. Nordmeccanica have previously edged Russia’s Dinamo MOSCOW (3:1) and Romania’s underdogs CS Volei Alba BLAJ (3:0 away) to sit in first place in the current standing of the pool.
“We are working very hard in order to claim a positive result on Thursday,” says libero Giulia Leonardi. “We just lost two matches in a row in our national league and so we are very motivated to show our real value and potential and forget about what went wrong with the last matches we played.”
Nordmecccanica PIACENZA won’t be able to count on Dutch outside spiker Floortje Meijners who suffered an injury last Saturday in the matchup with Imoco Volley CONEGLIANO.
The clash coming up on Thursday night will be special in its own for the current head coach and assistant coach of Rocheville LE CANNET, Riccardo Marchesi and Filippo Schiavo, who previously worked in Piacenza as coach and scoutman of Nordmeccanica, respectively.
It is also a special match for the Bauer family: Christina, the team captain of PIACENZA, will indeed be playing against her younger sister Anne-Sophie who now wears the shirt of Rocheville LE CANNET after spending four years in the USA: “Our parents, our grandmother and our other sister Nathalie will all be in attendance on Thursday night here at Palabanca,” Christina Bauer says. “We are all very excited about this historic game for our family and we hope it will be a great and memorable night.”
