Easy home victory for Russian Dinamo over French rookies LE CANNET
2016 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League - Women
Moscow, Russia, November 12, 2015. After losing their season opener to Italy’s Nordmeccanica PIACENZA two weeks ago, Russia’s giants Dinamo MOSCOW got back on track and on Thursday night cruised to a commanding 3:0 win in their first home match on schedule for Pool F of the 2016 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League – Women. Everything went just easy for the Muscovites in their matchup with France’s rookies Rocheville LE CANNET (25-20, 25-13, 25-17) which was followed by more than 2,000 fans in Russia’s capital.
Dinamo played with a lot of confidence right from the start of the opening set whilst Rocheville LE CANNET experienced problems and their team work did not seem to function at all. They had evident problems in reception and defence and this prevented the French side from organising their offensive play in a good way. Towards the end of the set both teams made mistakes but Dinamo were able to capitalise on their early lead to finish it off at 25-20.
The second and third periods were also a kind of ‘mission impossible’ for the French team. Rocheville LE CANNET could not pose a real threat to the hosts and Dinamo easily pocketed set 2 and 3 by 25-13 and 25-17, respectively.
Home star Irina Fetisova (see picture, #13) commented: “We scouted videos from their previous matches and they seemed to be a strong team which performs well especially in defence. However, frankly speaking, tonight they did not seem as strong. We easily coped with them and the match went our way.”
