PARIS Volley’s star Nikola Gjorgiev voted MVP of French national league

Paris, France, April 10, 2015. Nikola Gjorgiev of PARIS Volley has just received the award for the MVP of the French national league at the end of the regular season. The opposite of PARIS Volley had a terrific campaign scoring as many as 608 points in 24 matches, thereby accounting for an average of 5.85 points per set. Gjorgiev recorded 30 points or more in three matches of the regular season and 29 in only three sets as PARIS Volley played AS CANNES lately.
Gjorgiev, who is also the star player of the Macedonian men’s national team, said: “It’s a dream come true. I did not expect to get this award right by my first season in France. I am really happy and want to thank all coaches and journalists who voted for me.”
Though this is something to celebrate, Gjorgiev wants to keep his focus entirely on the Playoffs of the national league where PARIS Volley are set to play a strong competitor, Spacer’s TOULOUSE VB: “I want to win a trophy with my team because Volleyball is primarily and most of all a team sport,” he says. “We lost the Supercup and did not make the final of the national cup, so this is our last chance this season. TOULOUSE is really good and they have strong, experienced players. It’s going to be difficult. Saturday’s game, which we play at home, will be the most important one.” The Playoffs of the French national league are set to start this weekend and will come to an end on May 9 with the ‘big final’.
Gjorgiev follows in the footsteps of Serbian outside spiker Marko Ivovic who received this award last year while playing for PARIS Volley before moving this season to Poland to join the ranks of Asseco Resovia RZESZOW. Quite interestingly, both Ivovic and Gjorgiev – before wearing the shirt of PARIS Volley – had played for the same club in Turkey, Maliye Milli Piyango ANKARA.
Gjorgiev was not the only representative of PARIS Volley to be honoured at the ceremony that took place at the premises of sports newspaper l’Equipe. Dorian Rougeyron was indeed voted ‘Coach of the Year’ whilst Estonian-born middle blocker Ardo Kreek got a spot in the ‘Dream Team’ of the current season.
