Working with Guidetti is like driving a Ferrari on a highway…
2015 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League - Women
Istanbul, Turkey, April 2, 2015. Giovanni Guidetti will be trying to add a third crown from the CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League to his resume once VakifBank ISTANBUL join actions at the Azoty Arena in Szczecin for the final stage of Europe’s elite competition. Guidetti has been at the helm of the Turkish team since 2008 steering the group to a Club World Championship title (in 2013), two Champions League crowns (in 2011 and 2013), as well as to two wins in Turkey’s national league, national cup and Supercup as well. Under his guidance VakifBank set the longest winning streak in Volleyball – 73 matches – which was officially acknowledged as such also by the Guinness Book of Records.
This terrific success story is certainly due to Guidetti’s great skills as he is able to manage the team in the best way at all levels. His role and outstanding qualities are acknowledged also by the staff he is working with.
“Working with Giovanni is very easy and enjoyable,” says General Manager Pelin Yuce. “He is a man who knows Volleyball very well, sets the right goals, never gives up working, has the ability to understand what a female player wants and most important he is honest as a coach. And he is also very talented in motivating the team. I feel very lucky to work with him.”
“This is my first year working with him and I feel very lucky too,” adds Administrative Manager Sevsin Teleke. “I knew already before moving to VakifBank that he is a good coach and now I know that he is a good coach and a good person also off the court. He is a really enjoyable person to work with, he is a Giovanni ‘Superman’ Guidetti.”
His assistant Ferhat Akbas stresses: “It is an honourable experiment to work with Guidetti. I feel very lucky about the chance to work with him. It is always a pleasure to talk about Volleyball with him.”
“It has been over six years since I started working with him,” continues his other assistant, Can Dehrioglu. “With Guidetti you work hard, work intensively; the rhythm is always high, but it is also very enjoyable.”
VakifBank’s conditioning coach Alessandro Bracceschi says: “Working with Guidetti gets easier when you start knowing him better. As I work on physical conditioning, the connection with his part of the job is very important. That is why after seven years together we have found a good balance. He allows me to do my job on my own because he trusts me and he knows that the physical preparation is not a part of his duties. This is a very important quality for a coach. He is full of energy all the time. That is also something you need to know.”
“Working with Giovanni is like driving a Ferrari on a highway, it is fast, exciting and very joyful,” says scoutman Fatih Yagci.
“Guidetti is definitely the best coach in the world right now,” concludes the physiotherapist of the team, Sabri Erdogan. “I feel very lucky for working with him. He is not only a coach, but also a family member and a friend. Working with him means improvement and improving yourself. Guidetti is a great coach on the court and he is a perfect friend off the court. His secret of success is that he knows his job very well, he is very hard-working and he builds up good relationships with people. We are so glad that we have you big man!”
