Bursa, Turkey, March 29, 2015. BURSA BBSK became the first finalist of the 2015 CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup - Women. The Turkish team overcame the deficit from the first leg of its semifinal against SCHWERINER SC, shutting out its German opponent in the second leg at home by 3:0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-22). BURSA dominated the crucial golden set winning it by 15-10 to triumph with a ticket to the ultimate battle for the trophy.
In each of the twin first two sets, SCC was able to take the lead in the middle phase, but with the support of over 4,000 fans, the home team was in control at the beginning and when it mattered the most, at the end of the sets, for 25-21 and 25-18. The German team tried to come back taking the initiative during the first half of the third set. However, after 8-11, BURSA scored three in a row to tie and two rallies later took the lead for good. The Turkish squad never looked back before closing the match with a 25-22 in the third set and closing the whole deal with 15-10 in the golden set.
Meryem Boz was the top scorer of these four sets with 23 points for the winners. Lonneke Sloetjes was SCC’s most prolific player with 14 points.
