Ferdinand Tille joins Skra’s #YellowBlackBerlin mission for gold
2015 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League - Men

Berlin, Germany, March 28, 2015. Ferdinand Tille is returning home and he is just about to celebrate his first appearance in the final stage of the CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League – Men. Tille and another home hero – Jochen Schöps – share the same destiny: they will be vying for Europe’s most coveted crown while wearing the shirt of a team from neighbouring ‘Volleyland’.

All matches of the Final Four tournament will be streamed live and for free at LAOLA1.tv

Tille moved this year to PGE Skra BELCHATOW and Poland’s multiple champions have made the final and most exciting stage of Europe’s elite competition for the fourth time in their history. After playing host to the Final Four in 2008, 2010 and 2012 – this resulting in a silver medal and two bronze medals – this time they are determined to add to their showcase the only accolade that is still missing. Back in 2012 Skra could not exploit the home advantage and also match balls in a dramatic tie-break with Zenit KAZAN, eventually losing it by 15-17.

“I am of course very excited, this is my first Final Four and it was announced that the arena will be packed. On top of this, we are just about to play our arch-rivals in the semis, so is there anything better than that?” Tille comments.

Skra is coming from a difficult time after losing two of the three matches they have contested in the semifinal seires of their national league with Lotos Trefl GDANSK. However, Tille is confident that they are back on track in time for the real highlight of the season: “I believe that we are back in shape. We were finally able to train quite intensively for the last couple of weeks whilst for quite some time we could only travel from match to match,” he says.

The Polish derby will feature as many as nine gold medallists from last year’s FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championship, with five – three playing for Skra and another two for Asseco Resovia – among those who composed the starting line-up for Poland in the final match with Brazil.

After 9,350 fans will be treated to a real Volleyball show already in the first semifinal starring hosts BERLIN Recycling Volleys and Zenit KAZAN, the Polish derby is definitely going to provide another highlight of the most anticipated weekend of the year!
