Unendo Yamamay walks through Moscow on way to Szczecin
2015 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League - Women

Moscow, Russia, March 12, 2015. Unendo Yamamay BUSTO ARSIZIO became the first team to join host Chemik POLICE as a participant in the Final Four of the 2015 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League - Women.  The Italian squad celebrated another straight-set win against Playoff 6 opponent Dinamo MOSCOW.  At the Druzhba Sports Palace in the Russian capital, Unendo Yamamay defeated the home team by 3:0 (25-23, 25-19, 28-26) in 80 minutes of play time.

The beginning of the game was very dynamic.  The Italians showed a short serve, which created problems for Dinamo’s reception.  The Muscovites also showed their class with an ace from Yana Shcherban, followed by good serving from Ekaterina Kosianenko, which gave them the lead until the moment when Helena Havelkova started to serve for seven points in row, which pre-decided the outcome of this set – 25-23 Unendo Yamamay’s way with Rebecca Perry spiking successfully for the last point.  Throughout the second set the Italians were in the lead, with Dinamo’s game looking worse and worse.  At 25-19 in the end of this set, the Italians were happy to have already reached the Final Four.  With nothing at stake in the third set, both sides made substitutions to their line-ups and produced an overtime ending – 28-26 to finish the set in favour of Unendo Yamamay.

Valentina Diouf, who played for the winning team only in the first two sets, still became the best scorer of the match contributing 15 points to the victory.

Ekaterina Lyubushkina, player of Unendo Yamamay:  “We are happy to reach the Final Four.  Our coach is very strong in strategy.  We had a serious meeting after the first game, so we tried to show what he wanted.  We have a great team this year!”
