Zaksa KEDZIERZYN-KOZLE redeem disappointing domestic season by making CEV Cup semis
2015 CEV Volleyball Cup - Men

Teruel, Spain, March 11, 2015. Poland’s Zaksa KEDZIERZYN-KOZLE qualified on Wednesday night for the semis of the 2015 CEV Volleyball Cup – Men after recording a second victory also in the away match with Spain’s CAI TERUEL on schedule for the Challenge Round. After cruising to a 3:0 home victory last week, on Wednesday Zaksa needed four sets (25-23, 28-26, 26-28, 25-23) to move on to the semis and play there Italy’s Energy T.I. Diatec TRENTINO.

Zaksa was off to a flying start leading by four points in the early stages of the first set. CAI TERUEL, however, could keep cool and almost closed their gap at the second technical time-out (13:16). The Spaniards were able to draw level at 16 all but after equality was shown on the scoreboard Zaksa got back a margin of three, four points. Once again, CAI TERUEL were able to cut their deficit but eventually could not prevent Zaksa from winning the first set by 23-25.

The score remained tight for most of the second set as neither team was able to break away with a reassuring margin. Halfway through the set the visitors from Poland got a small margin of one or two points, which then they increased up to four at the second technical time-out. TERUEL were not keen to give in that easily and they slowly but surely closed the gap until they drew level at 22 all. A nail-biting final rush followed with Zaksa prevailing at 26-28 and with this the Poles had already secured their ticket to the semis.

CAI TERUEL started out strong in the third set and set the pace for most of the time before equality was restored by Zaksa at 15 all. The final section of this set was also a dramatic one with TERUEL this time having the upper hand at 28-26. Set 4 followed a plot similar to that recorded in the second with the score remaining close early on before CAI TERUEL opened a small cushion. Zaksa were nevertheless able to fight back, made it 22 all and then edged past at 23-25 to seal their away victory in four sets.
