Novi Sad, Serbia, March 11, 2015. Vojvodina NS Seme NOVI SAD caused a sensation by eliminating Turkey’s Galatasaray FXTCR ISTANBUL on Tuesday and reaching the semifinals of the 2015 CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup - Men. Having lost by 1:3 in the first leg of this quarterfinal clash, the Serbian team responded with a 3:0 (25-15, 25-17, 25-20) straight-set victory in the return match at home and the triumphed with a 15-11 in the golden set.
Vojvodina displayed excellent serving and a blocking, as well and also good spiking led by Drazen Luburic, Cedomir Stankovic and Milan Katic. The golden set was uncertain, but the home team kept its concentration and served well in the conclusive moments.
“We have achieved a great success for our club and for Serbian volleyball. I have to admit, I was a little apprehensive because Galatasaray has a great team, but I believed that we could win. All players were great and played their best when it mattered the most,” stated Vojvodina’s head coach Strahinja Kozic.
