Knack ROESELARE optimistic about re-match with star-studded TRENTINO to round off intensive week
2015 CEV Volleyball Cup – Men
Roeselare, Belgium, March 10, 2015. An intensive week for Knack ROESELARE started last Thursday in Italy as Belgium’s champions played their first match in the Challenge Round of the 2015 CEV Volleyball Cup – Men eventually losing at the tie-break to Energy T.I. Diatec TRENTINO. On Sunday Knack started their journey in the Playoffs of the Ethias Volleyball League cruising to a convincing 3:1 victory in their clash with Volley behappy2 ASSE-LENNIK, another contestant in the Challenge Round of this year’s CEV Volleyball Cup. This tight schedule will now continue on Wednesday night when Knack host TRENTINO at the Schiervelde sports hall for the re-match that will determine who moves on to the semis of the European competition.
Knack ROESELARE got one point from the away match in Italy and the challenge on Wednesday night is to record a 3:0 or 3:1 home win over the Italians to progress straight to the semis. A 3:2 win would call for a golden set to determine the eventual winners of this double confrontation. The task ahead for the Belgians looks difficult but not impossible to cope with.
“TRENTINO is definitely a world-class team,” comments Knack ROESELARE’s mentor Emile Rousseaux. “Yet we were satisfied with the result of the Drawing of Lots for this stage of the competition. It is better to play an opponent of this calibre than one of the two Belgian teams still in the race and that we anyway get to play regularly in our domestic competitions. The two matches with TRENTINO are a good opportunity for my players to test their skills against one of the best teams in the world, get to see and feel a different Volleyball culture and learn from that. My team will play the Italians with a lot of respect but also knowing that they stand a fair chance of winning. We have to try to make it as difficult as possible for them. We are very motivated to show to our fans that we can play at the same level of such team like TRENTINO. But in order to achieve this goal we will have to deliver our best performance.”
