Busto Arsizio, Italy, March 5, 2015. Unendo Yamamay BUSTO ARSIZIO won the first leg of the Playoffs 6 clash of the 2015 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League - Women against Dinamo MOSCOW by 3:0 (25-14, 25-22, 25-18) at Palayamamay competition hall.
The team coached by Carlo Parisi played an excellent game. UYBA dominated the first and the third sets and won the very balanced second set with a great acceleration in the final part. For the Butterflies, Valentina Diouf was the top scorer with 15 points, but Francesca Marcon also played a great match scoring 12 points. For the Russian team Nataliya Obmochaeva, scoring 14 points, was the last to surrender. At the end, the 2,200 red-and-white fans went crazy for the great victory of their heroines before the return match next Thursday in Moscow.
In the first part of the first set Unendo Yamamay served well for a great advantage of 11-3. Yana Shcherban tried to react for 8-13, but two blocks of Giulia Pisani and Francesca Marcon for 18-10 helped the Butterflies fly up to 25-18. The second set was very balanced until 21-21. On the serves of Valentina Diouf, Rebecca Perry scored for 23-21, Helena Havelkova made it 24-21 with a pipe shot, and Marcon attacked the last ball for 25-22. In the third set Dinamo seemed discouraged and committed many fouls. UYBA’s defence and blocking were rather perfect and the home side dominated from the start through the end for 25-18.
