Players of Red Star want to celebrate 70th anniversary of their club with home win in Challenge Cup quarter-finals
2015 CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup - Men
Belgrade, Serbia, March 3, 2015. On Wednesday Crvena Zvezda BEOGRAD will celebrate their 70th anniversary and the men’s Volleyball team wants to put the icing on the cake with a home victory over Italy’s CMC RAVENNA in the first round of quarter-finals matches on schedule for the 2015 CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup – Men.
The head coach of the reigning Serbian champions, Dragan Kobiljski, shows his respect for the Italian opponent: “CMC RAVENNA is a very competitive Italian team, with good players in all positions and they certainly did not come to Belgrade as tourists but to win. A lot of stuff is on their side, but we have our trump card, and I primarily think of our fighting spirit. Klemen Cebulj was with ACH Volley LJUBLJANA by the time I worked for this team together with Igor Kolakovic, back then he was a young player, but as far as I followed him in Ravenna, he has become one of the main pillars of the team. I think that he and the Brazilian opposite Renan Buiatti Zanatta, a left-handed player, are the main attackers, but they have their flaws.”
The team captain Maksim Buculjevic is happy that he and his teammates have the opportunity to play a highly competitive Italian opponent in Serbia’s capital: “We will try to beat them, technically we can be competitive enough, physically they are still more powerful than us, but I think we can play with them in equal terms. I really hope that we will have an interesting Volleyball night.”
His teammate Nemanja Stefanovic believes that Crvena Zvezda can stand a chance with the Italian team: “The good thing is that all players can play when it is necessary and that we can mutually support each other. Tomorrow we will all have to search for each other’s help to deliver a good performance and, why not, to win in the end.”
