Dinamo MOSCOW awaits close re-match with Italian champions
2015 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League - Women
Moscow, Russia, February 17, 2015. Though last week they recorded a 3:0 away victory in Italy, Dinamo MOSCOW do not underestimate the importance of the return match coming up on Thursday in Russia’s capital and where they will be playing once more Nordmeccanica PIACENZA for a spot in the Playoffs 6 of the 2015 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League – Women.
The Muscovites have been coping with a tight and demanding schedule, playing one match after the other. After scoring that away victory in Italy, they played arch-rivals Dinamo KAZAN in the Russian Superleague and lost that match in four sets. “We did not perform that well in the third and fourth sets of our match with KAZAN, and so we have to pay attention to the upcoming fixture with PIACENZA,” warns head coach Andrey Podkopaev. “Last week we won in three sets, but I expect this return match to be closer and more vibrant,” he adds. “We played Dinamo KAZAN, one of our toughest opponents in Russia, just in between our Playoffs 12 matches with PIACENZA, so that was not very convenient because every game we play with the Tatars turns into a long and exhausting battle. However, I have to admit that this match helped us keep the pace high as we are about to go for the remake of our first game with the Italians. And the good news are that this season Russian teams won’t be playing each other before the Final Four tournament as it happened last year and two years ago,” he concludes.
The local fans in Moscow are waiting for another interesting match-up against one of Italy’s leading Volleyball forces.
