PERUGIA count on home fans to achieve historic qualification to Playoffs 6

Perugia, Italy, February 16, 2015. The CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League – Men is returning to Perugia as on Wednesday the home heroes of Sir Safety will be playing the Playoffs 12 return match with JASTRZEBSKI Wegiel of Poland as they vie for a spot in the next-to-last round of the competition before the Final Four tournament follows on March 28-29 in Berlin, Germany. Last week PERUGIA scored a 3:2 away victory in Upper Silesia and this way got the right edge for the home match; a victory – with any result – will pave the way to the Playoffs 6 for the ‘Block Devils’ where they would cross the ways of Poland’s PGE Skra BELCHATOW or Italy’s Cucine Lube TREIA.
A large crowd is expected to show up at PalaEvangelisti as the Italian rookies continue to chase their dream of glory hoping to make the Final Four tournament in late March. “After recording this 3:2 away victory last week, we have to score another win, this time at home,” says libero Fabio Fanuli. “I think this is a good thing for it makes sure we keep our focus on the match as we can’t make any calculation or start speculating about the final result of the match. We know that JASTRZEBSKI Wegiel have a really strong team and if the match is as close as the one we played in Poland last week, we can’t afford making any mistakes. I do not know if playing the return match at home is a real advantage because JASTRZEBSKI Wegiel can count on many experienced players. However, we have a small advantage knowing that we have our fans behind our backs and they can become the seventh man on the court. So I hope that our supporters will show up in large numbers and help us achieve a historic qualification to the Playoffs 6.”
