Eczacibasi VitrA vie for Playoffs 6 spot after recording away victory
2015 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League - Women

Istanbul, Turkey, February 16, 2015. Turkey’s Eczacibasi VitrA ISTANBUL got the right edge in their quest for a spot in the Playoffs 6 of the 2015 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League – Women already last week when they recorded a 3:1 away victory in the Czech Republic over Agel PROSTEJOV. On Wednesday, February 18, the re-match will follow on the shores of the Bosporus with Eczacibasi hoping to use the home advantage to make it to the Playoffs 6 and play there the winners of the fixture starring France’s RC CANNES and Switzerland’s multiple champions Volero ZÜRICH.

The head coach of Eczacibasi VitrA, Giovanni Caprara, is evidently happy with the result of the first match played in the Czech Republic: “It was important to win that match but this belongs to history now. We are solely focusing on the return game at home. Our opponent, Agel PROSTEJOV, achieved some great and rather surprising results in a tough pool in the League Round and they performed very well also in our first match up. I am sure that both teams will try to perform their best here in Istanbul. It will be a pleasure for us to play before our fans, so we are inviting as many as possible to come and enjoy our match.”

If they make it to the Playoffs 6, Eczacibasi will get closer to their second consecutive appearance in the Final Four tournament of Europe’s elite competition. Last year they finished in fourth place in Baku and they look forward to improving on that result as this year’s Finals are hosted by Poland’s rookies Chemik POLICE on April 4-5 in Szczecin.
