Olympiacos cement leadership in Greek women’s league with easy victory in Thessaloniki
News from the clubs
Thessaloniki, Greece, February 2, 2015. Greece’s reigning champions Olympiacos PIRAEUS claimed this weekend another victory in their country’s women’s national league as they easily routed Iraklis THESSALONIKI in three straight sets (25-12, 25-12, 25-12) to consolidate their position atop the tables of the competition. Ivana Nesovic made her debut wearing the shirt of Olympiacos and the Serbian player immediately left her mark as she scored 10 points for the winning side with nine attacks and one ace to her account.
The head coach of Iraklis, Ioannis Orfanos, commented after the match: “There is a huge difference between these teams and this is something you could clearly see tonight. On top of this, we could not count on either or our libero players, since Natasa Kalaitzidou is also injured at the moment and this explains the massive score that Olympiacos registered at the end of each set.”
The mentor of Olympiacos PIRAEUS – the team that this season represented Greece in the CEV Volleyball Cup losing in the round of 16 to Galatasaray Daikin ISTANBUL – Ioannis Nikolakis said: “There is a clear difference between these teams in terms of their quality and physical skills. After this easy round and victory, we will start taking on much more challenging opponents.”
