Knack ROESELARE's only goal is to claim pass to CEV Cup Challenge Round
2015 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League – Men
Roeselare, Belgium, January 26, 2015. On Tuesday night Belgium’s Knack ROESELARE will be hosting Swiss champions #Dragons LUGANO for their last match in Pool A of the 2015 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League – Men and since they have failed to make the Playoff round, their only goal will be to seize the night and secure their promotion to the Challenge Round of the 2015 CEV Volleyball Cup – Men.
“Our dreams of making the Playoffs were almost gone when we missed out on a match ball in the fourth set and eventually lost at the tie-break to Tomis CONSTANTA,” says the libero of Knack ROESELARE, Stijn Dejonckheere. “This is a bit surprising but so far the Romanian champions have won all of their matches in the pool and secured their promotion to the Playoffs. They have achieved a feat similar to what we did last year when we got 17 points of the 18 available in the six legs of the League Round. Maybe our expectations were a little too high after the successful campaign we had last year. Up to now we did not quite reach the same level we showed last season. In this competition any mistake you make costs a lot and we have made a way too many of such little mistakes,” Dejonckheere continues.
Knack want to finish their campaign in the CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League with another great Volleyball night especially as the Schiervelde sports hall is already sold out and 2,000 fans will be in attendance. The team have set clear goals for Tuesday night: to record a home victory and make the Challenge Round of the CEV Volleyball Cup. To achieve this goal a 3:0 or 3:1 home victory over the Dragons is needed. However, head coach Emile Rousseaux and his assistant Steven Vanmedegael have done a lot of extra work in scouting the Swiss champions since their roster has changed a lot since the away match from some weeks ago. Canadian Steven Gotch and Serbia’s Nemanja Jakovljevic have indeed left the team, with LUGANO’s ranks being joined by Poland’s Marcin Wika, Canada’s Tyler James Sanders, Italy’s Leonardo Puliti and Brazilian Bruno Felicio de Jesus, who all played last week at home in the match with CONSTANTA.
