Make-or-break bout for Rabita in quest for Playoff spot

Baku, Azerbaijan, January 24, 2015. Last year’s bronze medallists Rabita BAKU will have to take three points from their last match in Pool A coming up on Wednesday, January 28, in order to make the Playoff round of the 2015 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League – Women. Rabita will be hosting at Sarhadchi Olympic Centre the current leaders of Pool A, Poland’s champions Chemik POLICE, and the challenge ahead looks tough. This is the first time since their debut in Europe’s elite competition back in 2011 that Rabita finds itself in such difficult situation to proceed through the League Round and therefore the players and the coaching staff rely on the help of the local supporters to make this happen.
Rabita’s head coach Dejan Brdjovic says: “We can’t afford to lose any single point in this match up with Chemik POLICE. Our rival is immensely strong and they have showed that with the results they have achieved so far in this competition. The match with POLICE will be extremely difficult. We are preparing for it as good as we can and we will put our total commitment and effort to achieve the result we desire and we need to move on to the Playoffs. I am confident that Rabita will edge past Chemik POLICE and eventually qualify to the Playoff round,” says the Serbian-born mentor.
