Arkas IZMIR confident golden set tradition can continue also in CEV Cup quarter-finals
2015 CEV Volleyball Cup - Men
Izmir, Turkey, January 21, 2015. Arkas IZMIR lost in straight sets last week to Zaksa KEDZIERZYN-KOZLE the first match on schedule for the quarter-finals of the 2015 CEV Volleyball Cup – Men. The men around Canadian head coach Glenn Hoag will try to get back on track on Thursday once they play the re-match at Atatürk sports hall. To make the Challenge Round of Europe’s second most prestigious competition, Arkas have to cruise to a 3:0 or 3:1 victory and after that a golden set would be played to determine the eventual winners of this fixture.
“The first match we played in Poland was extremely unlucky for our team,” says the press agent of Arkas, Ugur Özden. “However, I am confident that with the support of our fans here in Izmir we will be able to edge our opponents. In recent years we made it to the next round via a golden set five times already and we hope we can make it happen once more. I am also confident that the sports hall in Izmir will be full and the more support we get from our fans, the more chances we stand to beat our opponents. I trust our fans and our players as well, so I believe that at the end of the day Arkas will be the team making it to the Challenge Round.”
