Istanbul, Turkey, January 14, 2015. Turkey’s ISTANBUL BBSK and Belgium’s Volley behappy2 ASSE-LENNIK took action in the first game of their 2015 CEV Volleyball Cup - Men's quarterfinal clash in Istanbul on Wednesday. The visitors dominated the game and took an important advantage with a 3:0 (25-22, 25-19, 27-25) victory.
The game started well-balanced and after 2-2, 3-3 and 4-4 ties, ISTANBUL BBSK led by 8-7 at the first technical time-out, but at the second it was Volley behappy2 who led by a point. After that point, the Belgian squad did not fall behind and won the set by 25-22. The home team was the better side at the beginning of the second set, butut after an 11-7 lead, the visitors made a 9-1 run to reach the second technical time-out at 16-12. Thanks to Seppe Baetens’s 10 points, the Belgian side stood better and won the set by 25-19. The team from Istanbul stayed more competitive in the third set. Despite falling behind by 6-8, the home side made a 3-0 run to lead by 9-8. At the end of the set, the home guys gained a two-point advantage at 22-20 but Volley behappy2 made a comeback and won the set by 27-25.
Seppe Baetens was the best scorer of the match with 14 points. Kadir Cin scored 9 points for the Turkish side. The two teams will meet again on January 21 in Belgium.
