Getting to know: PARIS Volley outside spiker Marko Bojic

Paris, France, December 11, 2014. As he joined PARIS Volley, the winners of last year’s CEV Volleyball Cup and one of France’s two representatives in the 2015 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League, Marko Bojic took up a demanding challenge as he was due to step in for the MVP of the 2014 French national league and of the CEV Cup finals, Marko Ivovic, who had decided to move to Poland to play there for Asseco Resovia RZESZOW.
PARIS Volley decided to sign an experienced player in order to stand a chance in the very difficult matches they got to play in Pool E of the 2015 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League as well as in the more and more competitive French national league. They eventually opted for Marko Bojic, a player they got to know last season in two Champions League matches against Budvanska Rivijera BUDVA where Bojic performed brilliantly.
We may say that Bojic has got Volleyball in his genes as he started playing when he was only six years old after his father opened a Volleyball school in their hometown, Niksic. He then played for one of his country’s top sides, Buducnost PODGORICA, before moving abroad for the first time and joining the ranks of PAOK THESSALONIKI in Greece. Though he is only 26, Bojic has already played in as many as six different countries and national leagues, including the Polish PlusLiga, the Russian Superleague as well as Turkey’s national championship.
He still hasn’t had the time to discover ‘la ville lumière’ as he has been travelling very extensively since the beginning of the season. “Actually I only focus on Volleyball, which means on the matches and the trainings, since I want to play my best here in Paris. I hope that I will have some time to visit the city before the end of the season, since there are thousands of things to see here,” Bojic says. The local fans, on the other hand, have already discovered Marko’s skills as the player from Montenegro combines good offense with solid reception, with the addition of a unique fighting spirit. Together with Macedonian opposite Nikola Gjorgiev, Bojic composes one of the most effective and dangerous attacking forces of the French national league.
Bojic feels really sad after PARIS Volley lost three consecutive matches to their opponents in the ‘group of the death’ of the CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League, i.e. Belogorie BELGOROD, Cucine Lube TREIA and Fenerbahce SK. ISTANBUL. However, he hopes PARIS will at least claim the two remaining home matches with the Italians and the Turks. His focus has already turned also to the national league: “It has been some years since the club won the national league for the last time,” Bojic says. “Time has come now for this to happen again and we are working very hard every day in order to accomplish this goal by the time the season comes to an end.”
