Dabrowa Gornicza, Poland, December 8, 2014. Poland’s Tauron MKS DABROWA GORNICZA will be playing against Romania’s CS Volei Alba BLAJ, hosting the first leg of this eighthfinal clash in the 2015 CEV Volleyball Cup - Women on Wednesday, December 10, at 18:00 local time at the Centrum competition hall in Dabrowa Gornicza.
The girls of head coach Juan Manuel Serramalera won against Budowlani LODZ, losing only one set in a domestic championship game on Saturday, but they are still in the sixth position in the current standings of the Orlen Liga. After November was a month of health problems for Tauron, now the situation is returning to normal. Outside spiker Katarzyna Konieczna came back to the game and it seems to be a big reinforcement for the Polish team.
The only problem in the team from Dabrowa Gornicza is the injury of opposite Katsiaryna Zakreuskaya. She was the main weapon in Tauron MKS’s offensive line. In such a situation, the Argentinian coach must use only two opposites – Gina Mancuso and Joanna Staniucha-Szczurek.
The opponent, CS Volei Alba, finished third in the previous season of the Romanian league. Now it is the leader of the standings and has lost only two of the nine matches so far. The current coach of the Romanian team is Darko Zakoc, who replaced on this position Branko Gajic, now coincidentally coaching Tauron MKS’s previous rival in the CEV Cup - Dinamo Romprest BUCURESTI, defeated twice by the Polish side in the sixteenthfinals. Alba passed that stage of the competition successfully after losing to Volley KONIZ by 2:3 away, but shutting out the Swiss opponent in the return match at home.
