Dinamo MOSCOW continue their clean run in CEV Volleyball Cup
2015 CEV Volleyball Cup - Men
Moscow, Russia, December 3, 2014. Russia’s giant Dinamo MOSCOW easily claimed their home match with Landstede ZWOLLE of the Netherlands by 3:0 (25-17, 25-19, 25-14) to make a step forward towards their qualification to the quarter-finals of the 2015 CEV Volleyball Cup – Men. Dinamo delighted about 1,500 fans in attendance dominating the scene from the start through to the end of the match. The Muscovites set the pace of the match with their outstanding blocks and powerful serving and had no troubles at all even though they were playing with a rather experimental line-up.
Their mentor Yuriy Marichev was indeed obliged to do so after Dinamo’s star opposite player Ivan Zaytsev had suffered an ankle injury in the last training session on the eve of the match with ZWOLLE. Zaytsev was replaced by Pavel Kruglov who took much responsibility in attack and eventually finished the game with nine points. The distribution of points was equal, with all players joining the game for Dinamo cashing some rallies with the only exception being their libero Artem Ermakov.
Landstede ZWOLLE, though one of the major forces for men’s Volleyball in the Netherlands, could not stand a real chance in this match with Dinamo. The hosts achieved their goal as they wanted to get three points from this match and in two weeks in the Netherlands they will need to win ‘only’ two more sets to secure their promotion to the next round.
Dinamo’s coach Yuriy Marichev said after the match: “We did not know much about our opponents since there was not much information available. It was therefore necessary to work on a game plan during the match itself and to adjust it along the way. This you could see especially in the first set where our opponents got the chance to play some fast Volleyball, especially with their middle blockers. The first set was pretty tight but after that we imposed our rule in all fundamentals of the game.”
