Three sets are enough for Tauron MKS to claim ticket to round of 16
2015 CEV Volleyball Cup - Women
Dabrowa Gornicza, Poland, November 26, 2014. Tauron MKS DABROWA GORNICZA edged Romania’s Dinamo Romprest BUCURESTI at the tie-break on Wednesday night (19-25, 25-18, 25-15, 22-25, 15-4) to claim a ticket to the 16th final of the 2015 CEV Volleyball Cup – Women. Actually Tauron MKS needed to win only two sets to secure their promotion to the next round and so the fight for that coveted spot was already over after the hosts pocketed the third set thereby leading 2:1 in their return match with the team from Romania’s capital. The next opponent for Tauron MKS in this competition will be another side from Romania, CS Volei Alba BLAJ.
The home side experienced some big problems in reception in the opening set and this way they could hardly perform their offensive game. Dinamo Romprest BUCURESTI, on the other hand, kept widening their margin after the first technical time-out and the home side could not find a way to stop that storm ending up losing the first set by 19-25.
However, once the game resumed the story changed completely. Tauron MKS played just superbly especially in blocking and claimed a six-point lead at the second technical time-out. The hosts could hold on to their advantage and paced by Dominika Sobolska and Tamara Kaliszuk they comfortably cruised to the final 25-18.
The third set followed a similar plot; Tauron MKS slowly but surely extended their lead up to seven points and in the end sealed that set by 25-15 thereby securing their ticket to the next round of the competition.
After achieving their goal the hosts lost focus and determination so Dinamo Romprest found their way back into the game, and after the score was levelled at 22 all, the Romanians scored three straight points to call for the tie-break.
However, that final set was just one-sided with Tauron MKS DABROWA GORNICZA delighting the home crowd with a terrific 15-4, with the only disappointment from that victorious night being the injury to their Belarusian opposite player Katsiaryna Zakreuskaya.
