Budvanska Rivijera determined to win first home match
2015 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League - Men

Budva, Montenegro, November 17, 2014. On Thursday, November 20, Budvanska Rivijera BUDVA will be hosting Germany’s champions BERLIN Recycling Volleys for their first home match in Pool C of the 2015 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League – Men. The hosts will try to get back on track after losing in straight sets to Poland’s Asseco Resovia RZESZOW their first match in the competition. BERLIN, on the other hand, will travel to Montenegro after scoring a 3:1 home victory in their match with ACH Volley LJUBLJANA.

“BERLIN is a very good team and they have been playing together for a number of years already, so their chemistry within the group is good,” says Budvanska Rivijera mentor Slobodan Boskan. “Since they have been participating in the Champions League for the last couple of years, we know that we have a tough task ahead. We lost our first match with RZESZOW and now that we get the chance to play at home I expect a much better performance. In Poland we were not ready yet to perform at this level but with BERLIN I expect a totally different match where we shall show the same quality we have displayed over the course of the last months and especially in our friendly matches. If we play our best and we do not leave any chance to our opponent, I am confident that we can seize the night. I know that we have the quality to achieve this but we have to show it on the court. I believe in our chances to go for a victory and rely on the always great support of our fans. After the match in Poland we spent five days in Maribor, Slovenia and there we beat twice the national team of Kuwait. I could see a positive reaction from my team after losing to Resovia and I am confident that the players are determined to show that in Poland we did not show our real level and potential.”

Team captain Vojin Cacic adds: “It is necessary to forget the bad match we played in Poland as soon as possible since this was one of the worst performances I have seen since I started playing for Budvanska Rivijera. We have to turn the page and we look forward to the match with BERLIN. They have changed only two players since we played them three years ago in the prelims of the Champions League whereas our roster has undergone many changes. We have to analyse them and prepare our game plan. Only if we follow the instructions of our coach and we serve well, block well and show good defence we stand a chance to win.”

“It is going to be very tough especially since they are almost playing with the same roster they had last year,” acknowledges libero Ivan Rasovic. “This is the key point especially since we changed a lot of players and the side effect of these changes was evident in Poland. This match is very important for us and the same applies to the next round which we also play at home with ACH Volley and where we want to take three points. We just want to take it step by step, minimise the number of errors and this way I believe we can beat BERLIN. I invite all of our fans to watch some high-class Volleyball.”
