Russia’s powerhouse Dinamo MOSCOW do not underestimate Czech underdogs
2014 CEV Volleyball Cup - Men
Moscow, Russia, November 13, 2014. Russia’s giant Dinamo MOSCOW have prolonged their winning streak in their national league to six consecutive matches and lag only one point behind Belogorie BELGOROD, the team that currently tops the charts.
Dinamo just routed Prikame PERM in three straights sets (25-16, 25-17, 25-16) in the last round of the national league to follow on another 3:0 victory they claimed on November 6 in the Czech Republic where they easily won their debut match in the 2015 CEV Volleyball Cup with Fatra ZLIN. Dinamo’s only defeat this season came when they played Belogorie and lost that match by 2:3.
The main goal for the moment is to reach the optimal physical condition for the final stage of the Russian Cup that will be held in Belgorod from December 22 through 28. To achieve this goal head coach Yuriy Marichev wants to give an opportunity to all players on his roster to join the actions in the coming weeks, at the same time wanting to extend that winning streak even further.
Dinamo will be playing on November 18 the return match of their tie with Fatra ZLIN for the round of 32 of the CEV Volleyball Cup and even though the Muscovites scored a 3:0 away victory, they do not want to underestimate their opponents. “Fatra ZLIN took fourth place in the Czech national league and even though their Championship is probably not the most competitive out there, we do not want to underestimate our opponents and want to play our best regardless of the team that is standing on the other side of the net,” wing spiker Denis Biryukov says.
The match with Fatra ZLIN will be the first at home for Dinamo in the European Cups after a relatively long break as the club did not compete in last year’s European competitions. Therefore a large audience should show up to cheer the home heroes on.
Ivan Zaytsev, who moved from Italy’s Lube Banca Marche MACERATA to Dinamo for the 2014/2015 season, is still recovering from injury and is rarely to be seen on the court. “Fatra ZLIN is definitely not the toughest opponent for us but we have a young team and we have to keep focused and concentrated from the first to the last ball. Only if we do this, we can make the next round of the CEV Volleyball Cup,” he warns.
