Knack ROESELARE hope for a second CL miracle
2015 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League - Men
Roeselare, Belgium, October 24, 2014. Knack ROESELARE head coach Emile Rousseaux, assistant coach Steven Vanmedegael, team captain Hendrik Tuerlinckx and Organising Director Guido Declercq all attended on Thursday a press conference where Belgium’s champions introduced media to their upcoming campaign in the 2015 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League – Men.
Declercq opened the meeting by presenting some of the innovative features of this year’s CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League, with a focus on the Mikasa MVA200CEV volleyball and the green libero shirt.
Coach Rousseaux and his assistant Vanmedegael then went on to introduce to the media the upcoming opponents of Knack ROESELARE. They stressed that the clear-cut favourite in their Pool is Italy’s Copra Ardelia PIACENZA. Knack, Tomis CONSTANTA and #Dragons LUGANO will fight for the second spot in the final standing which may be enough for qualification to the Playoff round. “It would be foolish and a lack of respect to underestimate our opponents because they do not have a big name in Europe yet,” Rousseaux said. “LUGANO and Tomis are solid teams with loads of experience on their respective rosters. We often forget that we still have a young team,” he added. Vanmedegael, on the other hand, stressed that it is an advantage for Knack that they could keep the same players they had last season.
This view was shared by team captain Hendrik Tuerlinckx who decided to stay in Roeselare though he had some offers from foreign teams: “We are more than teammates, we are also friends who can hang around together,” he said. “This friendship does really help us stand difficult situations in our matches. All for one and one for all is the reality here in Roeselare, not just a slogan.” Tuerlinckx expressed his hope that Knack can repeat the sensational result they achieved last year where they won all of their Pool matches. “But I know that miracles usually don’t happen twice,” he joked.
The press conference finished with Mr Declercq inviting the fans to flock to Schiervelde sports hall. “The CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League is a unique opportunity for all our fans to watch some world-class Volleyball. In the past our enthusiastic crowd lifted the team up and this way we could achieve some great results. Hopefully this will happen again this year. We are one team and one family!”
