USA assistant coach Morrison pays visit to rising stars in Dresden
News from the clubs

Dresden, Germany, October 15, 2014. Only a couple of days after winning a historic gold medal beating China in the final match of the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship Italy 2014, USA assistant coach Jamie Morrison travelled to Dresden to pay visit to three American players – Molly Kreklow, Chloe Ferrari and Michelle Bartsch – that this season will be playing for Germany’s champions DRESDNER SC. Morrison also used this opportunity to talk to their current mentor Alexander Waibl.

Morrison followed a training session of the team at Margon Arena before having dinner with the three American players on the team. He also attended the photo shooting where the players of DRESDNER SC posed in their green outfits specifically designed and produced for the upcoming 2015 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League.

The USA assistant coach briefly addressed the local media to explain the reason of his visit to Dresden. “Last winter Kreklow and Ferrari were invited to train with our national team for the first time in their still young career. They spent the spring and summer seasons with the group playing for USA at the World Championship qualifiers as well as at the Pan American Cup. I came here because I strongly believe in the most valuable thing we have, i.e. the athletes we have on our programme. There has been a strong push to incorporate young players so that they can develop and get better. We see Molly and Chloe as players who can play a major role in the future of our national team,” Morrison said.

He wants to accompany and support this duo on their way to become elite and outstanding players. “This is why I came here since I wanted to see where and how Molly and Chloe will be training this season,” he said. “I want to make sure that our athletes are in good hands and get to know the people that will be taking care of them for most of the upcoming season. After spending one full day here, I am convinced and confident that they are in good hands. I was happy and am happier now that I know more about the club and the people working here,” he added. “I am close to Molly and Chloe and they both asked for my advice after receiving an offer to play for DRESDNER SC. I fully supported their decision to come here. I think that Dresden is a great place where to start an international career.”

On Wednesday Morrison left Dresden to travel to Berlin and after a few more stops in Italy, in Cannes and in Zurich to meet other players on the USA Volleyball elite programme, he will then return back home.

DRESDNER SC is the only German team set to compete in the 2015 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League – Women where the players from Saxony’s capital will be playing Dinamo MOSCOW, Unendo Yamamay BUSTO ARSIZIO and LP SALO in preliminary Pool C.
