Information on European multi-sport events now available on CEV website
News from the CEV

Luxembourg, September 8, 2014. On Monday an extra section was added to the CEV website with a focus on a series of multi-sport events which include Volleyball and/or Beach Volleyball on their programme. All of these events are placed under the authority of the European Olympic Committees (EOC) and Volleyball/Beach Volleyball have been an integral part of their programme almost since the very beginning.

This applies also to the European Games that will celebrate their inaugural edition next year in Baku, Azerbaijan, from June 12 through 28 with the majestic Crystal Hall (see picture) set to host the Volleyball tournament with participation of 12 teams per gender. The European Games will also feature a Beach Volleyball event open to 32 pairs per gender that will provide Europe’s Beach Volleyball stars with another opportunity to represent their country on the international stage.

The CEV website will from now report on the preparations ongoing for the terrific showdown set to take place in Baku next year and information will be added as the start of the European Games approaches, with teams’ profiles, a match programme, news and much more.

Another two multi-sport events have been added to the content of the CEV homepage: the European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) has provided since more than 20 years already the rising stars of European sports with a chance to test their skills and make new friends in what is usually their first experience of the Olympic values and spirit. A Volleyball tournament has been organised at every edition of the EYOF since the late ‘90s and next year Georgia’s capital city Tbilisi will be hosting the 2015 European Youth Olympic Festival, a real major happening for the whole country.

The Games of the Small States of Europe (GSSE) whose last edition was held last year in Luxembourg are set to stop in 2015 in Reykjavik, Iceland and yet again Volleyball and Beach Volleyball will provide two of the major highlights on the programme.

Information on the 2015 EYOF and GSSE will also be posted regularly on the CEV website, with the climax to be reached in conjunction with the events taking place in Tbilisi – July 25-August 1 – and Reykjavik – June 1-6 – respectively.

“The addition of this extra section contributes more value to our website,” CEV President André Meyer says. “We want to turn our website into a reference for all Volleyball and Beach Volleyball fans who are following these events and I am delighted that this way we can provide additional exposure and visibility to the excellent work which is being done by the respective organisers and by the European Olympic Committees. 2015 will be a busy year for our Volleyball family and we look forward to these multi-sport events where the stars of today and tomorrow will be in action.”
