Zurich, Switzerland, April 14, 2014. Just weeks before Zurich hosts the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship 2014, the city’s club team, Volero ZURICH, has confirmed its status as the best Swiss women’s volleyball team, winning its ninth national title in 10 years.
Volero left no chance for Volley KÖNIZ in the third game of the best-of-five series in the National League A Championship final with a 3:0 (25-23, 25-14, 25-17) win.
Volero is also undefeated in 78 matches in Switzerland, with their last loss dating more than two years ago, in January 2012 in Neuchâtel.
Volero’s president Stav Jacobi says the team’s dominance on the national scene shows its bright future ahead, with the goal of winning the CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League in the next two years.
This year’s FIVB Women’s Club World Championships will take place at Saalsporthalle in Zurich from May 7 through 11. Volero will face Russia’s Dinamo KAZAN and Brazil’s SESI-SP SAO PAULO and Molico OSASCO in the championship.
