Budva, Montenegro, April 11, 2014. The men’s team of Budvanska Rivijera BUDVA has added another national title to its tally after winning the championship series of Montenegro’s domestic league by a landslide. The 2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League Playoff 12 participant did not lose a single set in the three matches against Buducnost PODGORICA to reserve its place in the next edition of Europe’s most prestigious club competition.
Budvanska Rivijera started the final playoff with a 3:0 (25-18, 25-15, 29-27) victory at home to be followed by a 3:0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-18) shutout in the capital.
In the third match of this best-of-five series, the defending champions closed it off with another 3:0 (25-13, 25-20, 25-22) win to lift the champions’ trophy in front of the home fans on the Adriatic coast. Luka Suljagic contributed 12 points to this victory to become the best scorer of the match, followed by teammates Ivan Jecmenica with 10 and Slobodan Bojic with 8. Marko Vukasinovic was Buducnost's most prolific player with 8 points.
After winning the national cup earlier in the season, Budvanska Rivijera confirmed its domination in Montenegrin men’s volleyball with a golden double. This title was the sixth in a row for the club from Budva. The first two editions in the 8-year history of Montenegro’s national league were won by Buducnost.
