Baku, Azerbaijan, April 8, 2014. The Polish setter of Rabita BAKU Katarzyna Skorupa will miss the rest of the season due to an injury. The Azerbaijani women’s team that hosted the Final Four tournament of the 2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League and finished with the bronze medals is trying to defend its national title in the playoffs of the domestic Super League, but will not be able to rely on Skorupa’s services.
The playmaker has suffered an injury in her hand and will fly off to Paris where she will undergo surgery. So for the rest of the season Rabita will have to rely mostly on its other player in this position, Nootsara Tomkom. The 28-year-old playmaker from Thailand showed a great performance during the Champions League Final Four in Baku and was awarded as the Best Setter of the tournament.
Rabita already won its first domestic semifinal match against Azerrail BAKU by 3:1 (22-25, 25-11, 25-23, 25-21). In the first game of the other best-of-three semifinal series, Azeryol BAKU outplayed Igtisadchi BAKU by 3:1 (25-16, 17-25, 25-21, 25-14).
