ASPTT MULHOUSE relies on home advantage to make Challenge Cup final
2014 CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup - Women
Mulhouse, France, February 27, 2014. On Saturday France’s ASPTT MULHOUSE will be playing Zarechie ODINTSOVO of Russia for the second leg of the 2014 CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup – Women semi-finals. On Tuesday MULHOUSE played a good game in Russia losing to Zarechie only at the tie-break and with this result the hosts do really stand a chance to progress to the last stage of the competition.
If they win by 3:0 or 3:1, the players of ASPTT MULHOUSE would progress straight to the final match and play there the winners of the clash starring Besiktas ISTANBUL and Impel WROCLAW. If they edge past Zarechie at the tie-break, on the other hand, a golden set will be played to determine the winner of this double-header.
“My players are very motivated” says head coach Magali Magail. “However, we need to deliver a superb performance in order to edge past our opponents”. The French mentor says there are a few things that may help her side seize the night. “We play this return game at home which is certainly an advantage for us. Moreover, the Russian players will be a bit jet-lagged because of the time difference. However, the biggest asset will be our supporters. In Russia Zarechie won because they played better than we did in service and reception. On Saturday we will be more aggressive also from behind the service line in order to better stop their spikers. I am sure that everything will be easier here at home with the support of our fantastic crowd” she concludes.
