Tomis CONSTANTA only two steps away from CEV Cup semis
2014 CEV Volleyball Cup - Men
Constanta, Romania, February 11, 2014. After seizing the night (3:1) last week in Turkey’s capital city, Tomis CONSTANTA is only two sets away from a spot in the semis of the 2014 CEV Volleyball Cup – Men. On Thursday Romania’s champions will have to take another two sets in their return game with Maliye Milli Piyango ANKARA to make the semis but the players mentored by Bulgarian-born head coach Martin Stoev are preparing with much attention for this match.
Tomis just routed CSV Municipal ZALAU in straight sets (25-21, 25-21, and 25-16) in the last round of the national league and the national champions hope they can exploit the home factor to progress to the next round of the CEV Volleyball Cup.
Tomis currently tops the charts of the Romanian national league with 42 points, while ZALAU follows in second place with 36.
“Our victory over ZALAU was very important to get into the right mood before the CEV Cup match against ANKARA” Stoev says. “We are preparing very carefully for this game so as to avoid any surprise” he continues.
“The experience and the value of our players made the difference last week when we played ZALAU; they had a very good preparation for this game under the guidance of our head coach Martin Stoev. We got the right boost of confidence before playing the re-match with Maliye Milli Piyango ANKARA” says the Executive Director of Tomis CONSTANTA, Serhan Cadar. “On Thursday night we want to celebrate our qualification to the semi-finals of the CEV Volleyball Cup” he concludes.
