After close away victory Belogorie takes again on Montenegrin sensation
2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League - Men
Belgorod, Russia, January 20, 2014. Russia’s standout Belogorie BELGOROD will be hosting on Wednesday Montenegro’s Budvanska Rivijera BUDVA for the second round of the Playoffs 12 and everybody is much looking forward to this re-match after last week the underdogs of BUDVA played a superb game losing only at the end of a close tie-break.
The players of Budvanska Rivijera showed their best performance so far this season and they also exploited every single weakness of their opponents to push Belogorie to their limits. The result of that game is even more surprising especially taking into account that BELGOROD had made the Playoffs 12 without dropping a set in the prelims of the 2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League – Men.
The head coach of Belogorie Gennady Shipulin wants his guys to be as focused as possible for this return game. “The team from Montenegro showed last week that they are a very serious opponent for any other team participating in this year’s Champions League” he says. “We do not have to underestimate BUDVA, especially after the first game played last week in Montenegro. We know that they are coming to Russia with even more confidence they had before their home game. Our performance and our mistakes were the perfect way for them to build the right self-confidence and make it a close match. My players have to show their class and be motivated to win. We need a victory to progress to the next stage and I want to seize the night also to give our fans something to cheer about. To achieve this goal we need to show maximum motivation and determination.”
The winner of this clash will play in the next round Italy’s Diatec TRENTINO or Noliko MAASEIK of Belgium with the Italians having the right edge after their 3:1 away victory from last week.
