JASTRZEBSKI Wegiel needs to take two sets from re-match with TOURS VB to make Playoffs 6
2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League – Men

Jastrzebie-Zdroj, Poland, January 20, 2014. On Wednesday Poland’s JASTRZEBSKI Wegiel will be hosting TOURS VB of France for a much anticipated re-match after last week the guys around head coach Lorenzo Bernardi seized the night in straight sets. A spot in the Playoffs 6 of the 2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League – Men will be at stake and starting from the edge they got with their away victory in France, the home heroes will try to make a step forward on the way to the Final Four. JASTRZEBSKI will have to claim two sets in this game in order to book their spot in the Playoffs 6.

“Actually we want to win also the second match” Bernardi (pictured) says. However, the home side is struggling with health problems and their team captain Michal Lasko is still recovering from the injury he suffered about a month ago. Last week his spot was taken by French-born wing spiker Nicolas Maréchal who played an excellent game though in a position he is not used to.
Last weekend as his team played BBTS BIELSKO-BIALA in the national league, Bernardi could even not rely on his second major star, Michal Kubiak. Kubiak, as well as Thomas Jarmoc and Dmytro Filippov were all sick but in the end JASTRZEBSKI claimed a 3:2 away victory over the team that is currently ranked at the bottom of the standing in the PlusLiga.

“We need to get back on track and with TOURS VB have to play much better than we did with BIELSKO-BIALA” Bernardi continues. The local heroes will count on the support of some 3,000 fans who are all confident their guys will once again make the Final Four as they did three years ago when JASTRZEBSKI finished in fourth place as the last stage of the competition was held in Bolzano, Italy.
