Giacomo Sintini recounts battle with cancer in a book due to come out next week
News from the clubs
Trento, Italy, January 16, 2014. Volleyball fans are counting the days as next Tuesday they finally will have the opportunity to buy the book written by Diatec TRENTINO setter Giacomo Sintini together with Francesca Parravicini.
The duo has pulled together 204 pages to recount the story of the 35-year old Volleyball player who in about two years was able to beat cancer and return to competitive sport. His amazing comeback was crowned last May as he anchored Diatec TRENTINO to their third title in the national league beating Copra Elior PIACENZA in the last round of a dramatic and exciting Championship series.
That story could well turn into the plot of a Hollywood movie but Giacomo’s main goal with this book is to bring some hope to all those who are battling with cancer and also to thank the people who supported him: his family, the medical staff and also his many friends in Volleyball with whom he was very much looking forward to joining forces again for, as he wrote, “this is my world and I simply can’t stay without it.”
The book is due to come out next Tuesday, January 21.
Sintini is a 2005 European champion and a bronze medallist from the FIVB World Grand Champions Cup held that same year in Japan. He also is a double national champion (2006 and 2013), winner of the national cup (2013), and a gold medallist from the 2012 FIVB Club World Championship.
