Guberniya routs Arago in straight sets in CEV Cup quarterfinals
2014 CEV Volleyball Cup - Men
Sète, France, January 14, 2014. France’s Arago de SETE lost in straight sets to Russia’s rookie Guberniya NIZHNIY NOVGOROD (23-25, 22-25, and 12-25) the first game scheduled for the 1/4 finals of the 2014 CEV Volleyball Cup – Men. The hosts of Arago de SETE could keep the score very close up to the final section of the first and second sets before the guests of Guberniya imposed their quality in the third breaking away halfway through (7:13) to go for a speedy 12-25. Russian superstar Nikolay Pavlov top scored in the game with 22 points while Thomas Lamoise was Arago’s most prolific player with 13.
Arago de SETE used also some of their young players – Maxime Hervoir and Gauthier Bonnefoy – in the third set but could not fight their way back from 0:2.
