Arkas IZMIR lose sixth straight match in Pool D
2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League - Men
Izmir, Turkey, December 18, 2013. Turkey’s Arkas IZMIR finished the prelims of the 2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League – Men with another setback – the sixth consecutive this year – as the home heroes lost at the tie-break to Swiss rookie Energy Investments LUGANO 2:3 after dissipating a 2:0 lead (25-16, 25-20, 23-25, 17-25, and 13-15).
This was the end of a very disappointing season for Arkas that did not only miss out on a spot for the Playoffs 12 of Europe’s elite club competition but also for the Challenge Round of the CEV Cup. Arkas has a good tradition in the European Cups having won the 2009 edition of the CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup and made the Final Four of the Champions League in 2012 ending their campaign in fourth place.
