Mission accomplished for BUDVA in Ceske Budejovice waiting for news from Poland
2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League - Men
Ceske Budejovice, Czech Republic, December 18, 2013. Budvanska Rivijera BUDVA did accomplish their mission on Wednesday night in the Czech Republic as they got three points from their last game in prelim Pool C edging the hosts of Jihostroj 3:1 (25-20, 22-25, 25-16, and 25-18) to remain in contention for a spot in the Playoffs 12 of the 2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League – Men, waiting for the result of the other game in the group starring PARIS Volley and Asseco Resovia RZESZOW.
Jihostroj fought bravely to claim their first set in the competition playing one of their best games since the start of the season. The hosts started off strong showing great defense and playing well also from the service line. However, anchored by their excellent setter Marco Falaschi, the guests from Montenegro eventually won the opening set (20-25). The Czechs responded by taking the second to delight 1,500 home fans before BUDVA imposed their rule in the third and fourth.
Czech player Michal Sukuba said: “We were pressured from the start up to the end of the match and our opponents were simply too good. We missed some attacks towards the end of the sets as there are very young players in our team who lack experience. They have more experienced guys and so they controlled the match. We suffered three home defeats in the competition but I still think that especially tonight we showed good Volleyball to our fans. To stand the competition brought by the other teams, we need to rely on players with more experience.”
“I hope we can take this lesson for next year. We will now focus only on the national league where our sole goal is to win the title so as to participate in the CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League also next year” added his mentor Jan Svoboda.
