Aurubis vies for away victory in Croatia to make it among top 16 in Challenge Cup
2014 CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup - Women
Hamburg, Germany, December 17, 2013. Last year’s semifinalists Aurubis HAMBURG of Germany easily routed Croatia’s OK POREC in straight sets (25-11, 25-14, and 25-10) in the first round of the 1/16 finals for the 2014 CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup – Women played last week at the CU Arena. On Wednesday they will try to seize the night once more also in Porec knowing that last week they showed a totally different class in comparison with their young opponents from Croatia.
If they claim back-to-back victories, they would have something more to celebrate as Christmas is quickly approaching and get the right confidence before playing DRESDNER SC and Rote Raben VILSBIBURG as the Bundesliga resumes in early January.
If they make it to the 1/8 finals, the players around head coach Helmut von Soosten would then play the winners of the clash starring Slovenia’s Calcit KAMNIK and Austria’s Askö LINZ-STEG.
